Our Founders
LTT was established by Julian Page and Clive Shiret in 2007. They have always surrounded themselves with people with far more knowledge than they have, and as a consequence have a fantastically diverse board of Trustees with different perspectives and life experiences.
We work in partnership with Maisha Capacity Development Opportunity (MCDO), a Tanzania founded and led NGO that works in Babati whose board of Directors are all Babati residents.
We recognise that there is a power imbalance and we work hard to ensure all have an equal voice around our table. All opinions are valid and respected
“I spent my formative years in a Quaker School in Reading where I learnt about simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality and stewardship. These fundamental building blocks have followed me through life and when the opportunity arose to change career path I took it and retrained in International Development and, together with Clive, set up LTT in 2007.
My late grandmother was an early “Knitter for Oxfam” and instilled in me the belief that we never cross the road when someone is in need of assistance. I think this is why I love Mbuntu, the African philosophy that asks how a person can be happy when their neighbour is not.”
