Babati Day Girls' Toilets

Toilets should not cause a problem, yet every week the toilets at Babati Day Secondary School cause at least 10 students to be taken to hospital with ailments related to poor hygiene.

Fearing to use the toilets can impact on hydration levels and lead to UTI’s, the same fear can keep girls away from school during their periods.

They wanted safe, private, hygienic toilets with hand washing facilities, a place to wash themselves and their clothes and a safe way to dispose of used sanitary products, oh, and a mirror.

We also consulted the boys who agreed that the needs of the girls outweighed their needs.
