After 2 years of COVID the difficult decision was made that the time had come to return to Babati. Of course there were precautions (and many tests!) to be taken but once we got round a table and out to the schools it was exciting to be back. We’ll be sending you stories form the trip over the course of the next month or so.

A leaking roof annoys the students below, but when the rafters have been attacked by termites, it frightens the students below. Fear and frustration are barriers to education so together with the community we replaced the roof. Students can now safely and comfortably learn.

LTT have the greatest respect for the teachers in Tanzania and value their efforts. We believe teachers ought to be provided with a safe and comfortable place to work with the resources they need to do their job. Having gender separated, hygienic and female friendly toilets is a necessity, not a luxury.

The provision of school meals by the community is made harder and more expensive when the cooking and storage facilities are substandard. Working with the community we have improved the standards so that the storage of food and fuel and the cooking of the meals is more efficient and more effective.

Improved exam results is a result of many things: Better teaching, better classrooms, better resources, no hunger, parental support, better toilets, lower class sizes…… It is great to see that as the barriers to quality education are removed, that the potential is revealed
